Cream & Steam on the West Somerset RailwayAn afternoon on a journey back in time What better way to spend a Friday afternoon during the summer than on a steam train, enjoying good food and a lovely journey back in time through beautiful countryside. The West Somerset Railway’s “Cream & Steam” offers a 40-mile round trip from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. The train departs from Minehead at 2.00pm and will travel to Bishops Lydeard, passing Dunster Castle and Blue Anchor beach, before the inland climb to Washford and the return to the coast at Watchet. From Williton, the train travels alongside the Quantocks to Bishops Lydeard, where you can watch the steam engine uncouple and run round your train, before the return to Minehead. The WSR Cream Tea will be served to your table in a specially reserved carriage after departure from Williton, which will allow plenty of time for you to enjoy the experience. Fares The all-inclusive cost of the journey and the Cream Tea is £11.00 per adult, £8.00 per child. Travel Arrangements You can start your return journey at EITHER Bishops Lydeard OR Minehead. Your return ticket will allow you to travel from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead on any train and return on the 2pm from Minehead. Alternatively, you can board the 2pm from Minehead for the trip to Bishops Lydeard and return from Bishops Lydeard at 4.05pm. The Cream Tea will be served at about 2.30pm, allowing plenty of time to enjoy your meal. Either way, Cream Teas will ONLY be served on the 2.00pm Minehead-Bishops Lydeard train. Booking All tickets must be pre-booked. EARLY BOOKING is strongly recommended, and last bookings are to be made by the Monday of the week of travel.
