Dunster by Candlelight
 Friday & Saturday 3 & 4 December 2004

For two days each December the medieval village of Dunster extinguishes all its electric light, bans the motorcar from its streets and basks in the glow of yesteryear as it celebrates a traditional Christmas almost entirely lit by candlelight. In addition, there is a lantern parade through the village, plus entertainment from Morris Dancers, Magicians, Handbell Ringers, medieval minstrels and a lot more!

By far the best way to beat the inevitable traffic jams is to travel to the event by train on the WSR, as special services are operated on both evenings.

Passengers have the choice of alighting at Dunster Station and walking to the village (about 20 minutes – please bring a torch) or travelling from Minehead Station by a special dedicated free bus service to the edge of Dunster.

All trains depart from Bishops Lydeard – setting down at Dunster and Minehead.

Special trains will run as follows:-

Buffet and bar facilities are available on all trains, serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and a range of food.

Alternatively, why not warm yourself for the evening out in Dunster with some fish & chips on your train…? On the 5.40pm train ONLY on both days, as we steam away from Bishops Lydeard, piping hot fish and chips will be brought direct to your seat, together with a glass of wine (or non-alcoholic alternative). A vegetarian option is also available. Advance booking is essential, as the number of hot meals is limited).

The all-in cost of the fish & chips option (including train trip and food) is:-
From BISHOPS LYDEARD
